The move is over!

We're in the new house!!! I wouldn't say that we're exactly settled but we're getting there. We all love the new place and are so glad the move is over. It was a very stressful week but we'll start the new year relaxing on the couch in our new home.

Christmas this year was very hectic of coarse. Honestly, it just seemed to come and go before any of us were ready. Luckily, Miley is still young enough that we can basically skip Christmas without protest. Next year will be a different story, we bought Christmas decorations and a fake tree so we'll go all out next season. This year we went to my parents' for Christmas Eve and opened gifts. The next morning, we left to get ready for Stephen's family. They arrived Christmas night, spent all day Friday with us, then left early Saturday morning. It was a nice visit but very short. Miley loved all the attention from everyone. Stephen's uncles got Miley a pink pony on wheels for Christmas and Timothy and Daniel (Stephen's brothers) would push her all over the house. She LOVED it, I told Stephen that Miley needs an older brother to play with her since she loves to play with older boys (oy vay). Hopefully, we'll all get to together again soon for a longer visit.

For tonight, I imagine it will be the same as last year. The three of us asleep by 10 but hopefully this year Miley won't wake up every 3 hours. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and have a happy New Year.

Here are the photos of the move and the new house I promised:

Moving Day

Well after 5 brutal months and a few setbacks (closing moved the LAST minute), we close and move into the new house today!!!!! Just in time for Christmas and to say we're anxious is an understatement. Stephen and Miley are asleep upstairs but I'm restless at 4:46 am. The plan of attack is to take Miley to daycare and for us to do as much as humanly possible so we can enjoy a nice, relaxing holiday in our new home. Miley of coarse doesn't know what's going on but she's excited nonetheless since all the furniture from upstairs has been downstairs for her to play with.

Now that the worst is almost over, we can finally focus on the season. I can't believe Christmas is in 2 days! Miley's second Christmas already, time goes so super fast. Stephen is really excited because this year he has to build something while Miley's asleep in bed. This milestone marks the beginning of the years of Santa. We're also getting company, Stephen's parents, sisters, minus one :(, and brothers are coming on Christmas night. Only Stephen's mom has had the pleasure of meeting little miss Miley so we're all excited about this visit.

Since I never seem to have time to blog except when every ones asleep, let's talk about what Miley's been up too. This weekend she has started a new saying....drum roll......"Get down". She says this when she wants up, not sure why but she'll tell you "Get down" then reach for you. If I correct her and ask "Up" she just laughs like "umm... yeah mom that's what I just said". Stephen tried to teach her self-defense because she got bite 3 out of 5 days last week. The first time, she tried to share her favorite thumb apparently it didn't go well. The last times she was bitten on her right arm at the elbow. She didn't quite get the "punch them in the face if someone bites you" but it was amusing to watch. This weekend we went to Bellingrath Gardens to see the over 2 million Christmas lights with a friend from work and her son. Miley and Christopher (he's 7) really get along and he taught her to high-five. Also this weekend Miley started to drool again. We're not talking a little drool either, we're talking fountain here. She takes it all in stride and blows raspberries with her water works. It's cute and makes me laugh but I know what's coming.....more TEETHING!

Oh before I wrap this up because it's turning into a novel. Miley's Mimi taught her how to blow her nose! That's right she is a big girl now and she learned in one day. I think she may just be the next Einstein but I may be a little bias.

Miley with hair

Miley at 7 months with an updo

Everyday hair

I'm getting my haircut tomorrow and wanted to try some virtual looks but I don't have a photo on my work computer. So I used Miley, I think she looks pretty darn cute with hair :). I think Stephen and I may have our hands full! Does this classify as cruel and unusually punishment?

Miley vs Santa

Well we went to see mall Santa last night and it went about how I expected. While we waited in line Miley was looking at the fake snow and Christmas trees, trying desperastely to ditch us and run to the shoe store. Then it was her turn...she ran up the ramp giggling that she had escaped my clutches and then she saw him. She stopped dead in her tracks and stared. I tried to walk her up but she won't budge. I finally picked her up (Stephen didn't want to be the bad guy) and set her on his lap. She screamed so Santa (we found out later that Stephen works with him) gave her a candy cane. She stopped crying long enough to take the photo but if you look hard enough you can still see the terror. I think Santa was more than annonyed. I guess Miley won't be getting anything this year ;).

Stressed

Once again I've been a really bad blogger. I'm sorry everybody but I have an excuse. Work has been really stressful lately, I have more work (which isn't a bad thing in times like this) then I have time to do it. We close on the new house on December 19!!!!! So for the last week I've been on the phone with the mortgage company, insurance, utilities, and the builder. Miley also spiked a very high temperature of 102.7 last Thursday so we rushed her to the doctor. She has an ear infection again but is doing SO much better. She even slept through the night last night for the first time in 2 weeks. Christmas is also fastly approahing so we're trying to shop on a tight budget. Everything we own minus 2 bowls, plates, cups, and 1 week of clothing is packed in boxes. I've been laying in bed at night thinking about all the things we have to do and how I really need to blog something so everyone knows we're alive.

So anyway, last week at the doctor's appointment Miley weighed 21 lbs 4 oz, that's almost a pound in 4 weeks!!! I think she may have had too much turkey or Christmas tree cakes. Also starting last week, Miley is completely weaned. It was a very tough road but we made it 13.5 months! Sorry but I had to toot my own horn because it wasn't always easy but we did it and I feel very proud and accomplished. If you would have told me 2 years ago that I'd be this excited about breastfeeding, I would have said you're crazy.

In other news, we'll be in the new house next week!!!!! Stephen and I are BEYOND excited. After 5 years of renting, we'll finally have a place we can call ours. We have so many ideas for the new house and just can't wait to move in and get settled. Miley's new room will be Tinkerbell fairies and pigs of coarse. Odd combo I know but the pigs are so cute and the fairies are girly ;) We all are going to love it there, the neighorhood is new and quiet and everyone lives out that way. The only downside is a longer commute but we'll take it. Neither one of us works in areas we would want to live.

Future posts....Miley's going to see Santa Claus. I have no doubt it will not go well so look for that post. Miley will soon be leaving the Birds and moving to the next class up. They sleep in cots! I would love to see how that's going to work.

Second Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is techinally Miley's second Thanksgiving; however, it will be her first getting to partake in the feast. Last year is a blur of round the clock feeding every 3 hours and getting very little sleep. I honestly don't remember much about last Thanksgiving except for getting to sleep in a little longer, being on maternity leave, and Miley wearing her "First Thanksgiving" outfit. Oh and we also took our Christmas card picture with her under the tree. I remember she hated wearing the Christmas dress and actually spit up on it.

Thanksgiving 2007

Look at that face! I think she was upset about not getting any turkey.

The dreaded Christmas Dress, she stopped crying long enough to look peaceful.

Anyway....what was I saying, oh, yes this year Miley will actually get to eat turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green beans, etc. I'm full just thinking about all the food tomorrow. We're going to Gulfport and Stephen's deep frying THREE turkeys! We've done this the last few years and the turkey does taste really good. I believe my brother's girlfriend and I will be making the sides so my mom can rest/babysit after her surgery yesterday. The babysitting or toddler chasing will be enough work in its self. Luckally all Miley needs to be entertained is one of Daddy's t-shirts she can use it as a cape or a Miley cover. I might have to try that tomorrow to fiqure out why that is so amusing.

Hope everyone has an excellent Thanksgiving and you all don't eat too much. We'll be stuffed and napping by 3 pm. It'll be fun and we have so much to be thankful for. I'm very thankful for my loving husband who loves me for me, who I can laugh with and tell anything and everything although somethings he may not want to hear it, for our wonderful, always entertaining, so cute we could eat her up daughter who has enriched our lives beyond words and without whom the world would just not be the same, for our wonderful families and our crazy lovable friends. We are very blessed! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Mommy Withdraw

I've been so busy lately that unfornately neither Miley nor I have had much time together. First it was a concert, then having to work late, she spent Saturday and Sunday morning in Gulfport, late night business meeting, etc. Miley finally let her feelings known last Tuesday. The girl SCREAMED all night if I put her down. She won't even sleep in her crib. If I held her she was content but if I tried to do anything without her attached to the hip, she'd have a fit. I had to sleep in the chair holding her in order to keep the peace. So Wednesday afternoon I got off early and we went to the Exploreum. We had a blast, Miley ran around playing in the huge ocean ball pit, climbing the slide, and of coarse putting everything in her mouth. It was a workout to keep up with her but it was so much fun and I'm so glad we were able to spend the day together. That night, Miley slept like an angel and everyday since has been some of her best days. I think that we should have a Mommy and Me afternoon at least once a month.

Ghost Baby

I started a new post and promise to finish it tomorrow but this couldn't wait. Miley walked around with Stephen's t-shirt on her head for 10 minutes! She'd bang into things and laugh! She's such a silly goose.

First Night without Mommy...

didn't go exactly smoothly. Last Saturday, Miley spent the day at Grandpa and Mimi's house so we could pack and get ready for a yard sale. That night Miley stayed the night and well...she throw up 3 times. Miley NEVER spits up, let alone throws up. Mimi had to clean her and her crib at 11:30 then tried sleeping in the chair with her only to get throw up on, then again in the early morning. Other then the throwing up, Miley was happy, no fever anything. The next morning we went to get her and she was fine the rest of the day. Maybe it was nerves or a 24 hour bug but I don't think Mimi will be taking her back anytime soon ;). I didn't sleep that night either, just an uneasy feeling. I don't know when we'll be ready to try that again but it won't be soon. I must say though that Grandpa and Mimi did an excellent job, I just feel really bad that she got sick.

Bup

Again long time no post but I have a video for this one so please forgive me. Miley's vocabulary is quickly expanding. The newest words are Mama (FINALLY!) bye-bye (very clear) and bup. Bup is her word for cup. In the last week Miley has learned to ask for her bup when she's thirsty. That is so amazing and makes it so easy to figure out what she wants. The last few mornings she's been walking to the frig. and banging on it repeating "Bup, bup, bup". So cute and so smart, she's like a human ;)!

Oh and here's the long awaited update on her stats:

Weight: 20 bls 8 oz (50% for her age)
Height: 29 inches (65 % for her age)
Head: 20 inches (75% for her age)

She's right on track staying in the same percentiles she's been in since birth.

Halloween

For Halloween this year Miley was a bumblebee! Friday morning I dressed her in the above costume and took her to daycare. Everyone (so I was told) was suppose to wear their costume because they were having parties, trick or treating at the Y, and costume contests. As we walk down the hall, all the kids are dressed up, eating breakfast, and running around having a great time. When we get to Miley's class NO ONE is dressed up. I did it again folks, dressed her all up for school when no one else did. I find out that the contest isn't until 11:30 so I take it off her so she can play and eat. When I picked her up, the teachers told me she had won. What did she win folks......The Cuties/Prettiest costume award!!! Yippeee, she won out of all the kids in daycare not just her class. They also told me other toddlers did dress up, there was a frog, bat, and a caterpillar.

That night we went trick or treating with a friend from work and her family. Miley and Ava (she's 4) really hit it off and had a great time. Ava was a mermaid and a trick or treating pro. Ava would walk up to the house and Miley would toddle behind. Miley really enjoyed herself, she wasn't the least bit afraid. She'd toddle up to the candy person, lift up her bag, then flash a huge smile when they dropped something in. She'll be an old pro next year, running door to door.

Birthday Party and 1 year Appointment

Saturday we had Miley's birthday party. It was a lot of fun and I think she actually enjoyed herself. We opened presents throughout the day so she would have different things to play with. Some of the first things she opened was an inflatable ball pit, a Pooh 4 in 1 car, a Spin Around Learning Town and some very cute outfits. She had a short cat nap and then opened the rest. Let's see if I can list them (I apologize in advance if I leave something out)...a Pooh V-Tech telephone, Miley sized hair berets, M&M blanket, several books, a wooden puzzle, a Cabbage Patch Doll (exactly like the one I had when I was little), a Pig rolly backpack, a year's subscription to a baby animals magazine, a paid college tuition with the state of Mississippi, some fun money, a set of coins with her birth year on them, Pig decorations, and that's all I can remember at the moment. She also got lots of birthday gifts in Nebraska, lets see if I can name those...a singing baby doll, lots of super cute outfits for Halloween, Christmas, hockey games, and whatever time, a PDA for babies, a remote control, and that's all I can think of. Thank you notes are coming soon, we're waiting for her 1 year photos to come in. Anyway, I would say that her 1st birthday was a success and with all the things going on I had no time to be sad. Can't wait to move into the new house and set her room up. Oh she also got a cute sign with her name on it to hang in her new room (we should be moving in around the middle of December).

Yesterday, Miley had her 1 year check-up so you know what that means....another weight poll!!! Make your guesses to the right, no help this time but you could look back at her previous weight about a month ago ;). She did very well and passed all the milestone questions...does she walk, does she throw things, does she say Dada, mama, and a few others, does she feed herself, does she drink from a cup.... I said yes even though she won't say Mama, I know she can but she rather mess with me. She also received 4 shots, 2 in each leg. She screamed until I picked her up and gave her a hug. She needs 2 more shots at 15 months then the baby shots are all done. Oh, she got 1 flu shot yesterday so we have to go back next month for the second.

Everything is going well and Miley is growing great. She's been a little fussy later so I believe she is getting sick again. The doctor wrote us a prescription for antibiotics in case she gets an ear infection. Stephen came home yesterday from work sick so it's only a matter of time before we're all three feeling bad. I hope we can make it through Halloween. I just made the weight poll and it seems too easy so let's do a height poll as well!

Back from our first trip

This last weekend Miley took her first airplane trip and she did wonderful. She got a little fussy when she couldn't get comfy to sleep but that was it. We had a great time in Nebraska, she was her cute self and got lots of birthday gifts. She was pretty friendly to everyone and loved Grandpa and Grandma's dog, Benny. She also liked the twin babies who by the way were so cute and cuddly. I held the babies a little bit and she didn't seem jealous, she just didn't want her Mimi holding another baby. I loved spending the time with her and seeing all her new tricks. She is such a big girl now, you don't see baby anymore when you look at her.

Last night Stephen and I were cleaning the living room, packing the non-essentials and throwing away the clutter. Miley has a big toy basket in the living room in the corner and while Stephen and I were throwing things out she was purging her toy basket. She'd pull things out of it, look at it for a moment, then toss it behind her. Also last night she decided to entertain us with some very silly behavior. She sat down in the middle of the room, lifted her foot to her ear, and started talking to it like a telephone. It was hilarious, she is such a goofy girl. LOVE IT!!

ONE!

Yesterday Miley turned ONE! She is officially a toddler no longer a baby. We spent the day together which I LOVED, I wish we could spend everyday together. First we slept in after the ordeal of the trip, I'll post about that later. Then we went to the YMCA to swing, had lunch with Mimi, and went to Toy's R Us for some big girl toys, a balloon, and a birthday crown. Then when Daddy got home, we went to Chuck E. Cheese. All of this activity and she still took 3 naps.

The big birthday party is on Saturday, her 1 year photos are this afternoon, and her 1 year check-up is Thursday. Can't believe it's been a whole year, she is such a big girl. I remember the day she was born like yesterday. The Friday before (the 19th) I was running around getting all my short-term disability paperwork signed because my midwife wanted me to take the last week off to relax. When I got home, Stephen and I went to the mall to get a CD and have our rings cleaned. Around 7 pm while eating Tator-Tot Casserole, the contractions started. Every 15 minutes at first then 10 then 5 and they were all in my back. At midnight they were about 3 minutes apart so Stephen and I went to the hospital. They checked me out but I was only 2 cm so they sent me home with muscle relaxers and a pain killer saying it could be a few days. A FEW DAYS!!! There was no way I could have dealt with that for a few days. Anyway, got home around 2:30 and went to bed still having the contractions. Stephen went to work at 5 but didn't stay long. At 6:30 my water broke so Stephen rushed home and we went back to the hospital. I was now a 3 but they had to keep me since my water broke. At 10:30, my Mom, Dad, brother, his girlfriend, Grandma, and Grandpa arrived and I got my epidural. So magically, I no longer felt pain and slept. At 3:50, I started pushing FOREVER! Then finally after 21 hours of labor, Miley was born at 4:56 pm on Saturday October 20th (the Sweetest Day). She was so tiny and warm and had hair, we couldn't believe it. Here's a photo of Miley minutes after she was born:

She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and was 20.5 inches long. She was/is perfect. Happy Birthday baby girl!

First Plane Ride

Well we're going to Nebraska tomorrow so Miley will get her first plane ride. I've been running around trying to pack and already the baby gear is taking over. It's just for 4 days but you'd think we were moving up there. I'm nervous but trying to stay positive about how the trip will go. I'm sure she'll do better than me, I don't like flying all the much. We'll be back on Sunday with the complete story. Oh and Miley's birthday post!

8 days to go

Man, I'm really slacking on blogging lately. I figured I'd post now while Miley and Stephen are still asleep. Only 8 days until the big day, however after the events that took place yesterday at a birthday party I think Miley is actually 4 trapped inside of a 1 year old (more on that later). This week in daycare news: Miley's eyes started draining again around Tuesday. It looks much worse than it actually is but still you feel bad for her. After a few calls to the doctor's office, they decided it may be allergies and to give her Children's Benadryl. By Thursday her eyes were back to normal so I guess Miley has allergies just not sure what they are. The last time this happened was about 2 months ago then a week later she had double ear infections. For some reason, Miley doesn't get runny noses, she gets runny eyes. Friday at daycare she was bitten again. We know who the culprit is because this individual bites someone every day. I don't know what you're suppose to do about it, we just hope Miley doesn't pick up this habit.

Yesterday Miley and I went to a birthday party for a coworker's daughter, Ava. She is turning 4 on Monday and they had a party at Pump It Up. It's a large room with an inflatable playground. There is an obstacle coarse, GIANT slide, a boxing ring, and a ball bounce house. Miley had a BLAST!!!!! I could barely keep up with her, she was walking/running around chasing the bigger kids and chasing the balls all over. She would laugh and laugh in the bounce houses and LOVED the slide. I was afraid she'd get run over so I stayed real close but she just wanted to play so she'd just get right in the action. She was so friendly with the other kids and so super sweet. There were 3 other toddlers/babies her age but they just didn't enjoy it like Miley did. One little girls was a month younger than Miley but at least 3 times her size. Miley would walk up to her and try to play ball but the girl was really shy, her mom said that she hasn't been around kids her age. Another little boy about 3 months older liked playing with Miley. She sat in one of those Flinestone cars and he'd push her around. There were about 15 kids running amok (things to look forward too) but Miley wasn't the least bit afraid, she ran around playing with anyone who would show her attention. She didn't care if I was around or not. It was a lot of fun and we're so proud to know we have such a sweet, friendly baby/toddler.

Invitation in the mail

I'm mailing Miley's birthday party invitation today! I only had a few so I only mailed them to the Grandparents and the Great Grandparents. I promise to post a photo of one once I know everyone has received theirs. The only thing left to do is buy her gifts! I'm so excited to see her open her presents and play with the paper and boxes and not the actually toys. We PROMISE to take lots and lots of photos and video. It's times like these that I wish we lived closer to more family and friends but I know everyone will be thinking of her and we'll be thinking of you!

Have to get back to work but tomorrow I'll make a better blog post!

19 days and counting...

Only 19 more short days until our baby girl is officially a toddler! Where did the time go? The short baby stage passed in a flash of colic, sleepless nights, constant cuddling, new baby smell, poopy diapers and several super cute milestones all of which made us so proud. Examples: Did you see that I think she smiled, Daycare said she can hold her bottle now, Liss-come quick I can make her laugh, just to name a few. We're going to enjoy the next few weeks of babyhood because at 1 she'll be on cow's milk, actually human food (not mush), and improving her walking/running skills. Things to look forward to for the next year....talking, sassing, running a mock, cuddling (one can hope), and the new house!

Little Mommy

The following events took place this morning and are in no way fabricated. This morning when I dropped Miley off at daycare, her old teacher from the Turtles took her into that classroom to cuddle and squeeze her. Apparently Miley goes over there sometimes to walk/run around and play. There were 3 little babies there today ranging from 3 t0 6 months. One was in a jumper, another in a bouncy seat, and the 3 monther asleep in her car seat. Miley was cuddled for a few seconds then wanted down to play and walk/run around. I had to stay and watch because I was afraid she'd put the helpless babies in head locks or something. She went over to the jumper and started pulling the front of it down to help the little boy jump. He was all smiles and Miley was laughing. Next she walk/run over to the bouncy seat where a little girl was drinking a bottle. I thought oh boy she's going to take that bottle but nope she gently petted the baby's head. Then she moved on to the sleeping infant in the car seat, I thought this is it, she's going to wake that baby. Again I was wrong, she started rocking the car seat and squatted down next her and started laughing. She went around and around to these three babies just repeating the pattern. She was trying to take care of them! Words cannot describe how cute this was! Then right before I left the teacher put a baby doll in a swing and Miley went straight over there and started swing the baby.

She is definitely getting a baby doll for her birthday. I had no idea she was so gentle because at home she is destructor. Case in point yesterday she dismantled the vacuum parts, threw everything off the end table, pulled out all the DVDs from the DVD case, dumped a bag of chips on the floor, and attempted to eat pennies out of the change holder.

And the correct weight is....

20 lbs 1 oz! She's a lean, mean, walking machine having gained just under a pound in two months. I really thought she'd weigh more since she eats every 3 hours still but I guess the walking/running really burns the calories. Thanks for voting!

No ear infection this time

Today I took Miley to Dr's office because yesterday at day care they said she was holding her right ear. She's all clear, no ear infection and no new teeth coming yet. She has a bit of a diaper rash but nothing too serious. Anyway, let's do a poll on Miley's weight at 11 months. I'll give you some help at 9 months she weighed 19 lbs 2 oz. Please keep in mind that she is a very active baby "always on the go" therefore burning calories. Good luck!

Preferred Mode of Transportation

Finally back in the office for awhile so I should be able to blog more. Some new things have happened in the last week. Miley's new preferred mode of transportation is walking! Last Thursday night she figured out how to stand up from sitting without assistance. She now takes the time to balance herself to standing in order to walk everywhere. If she's in a hurry, she'll crawl but she definitely prefers to walk around. She's also getting better at walking with shoes.

This weekend while Daddy had to work, Miley, my mom, and I went to the beach to see the Civil War ship that was washed ashore after the last storm. Miley really enjoyed the beach. My mom held one hand and I had the other and she chased the waves (note: Alabama waves are NOTHING maybe a foot high). As the wave went out Miley stepped toward it and when they came in she'd step back. Also learned that Miley LOVES balloons. We went to Lambert's home of the throwed rolls, they throw rolls to you from across the room. Anyway, the waitress got Miley a balloon so we loosely tied it around her wrist and she would slam the balloon everywhere, hitting her face, the table, other people, etc. It was so hilarious. OH, I almost forgot something else she learned to do. We went shopping at a couple of stores and every time we checked out, Miley waved bye to the cashiers and said "Ba" (I'm guessing that's Miley for bye). She did it like 5 times, she's so smart!

Shoe Station

This weekend was pretty laid back. My mom came over on Saturday and us girls went shopping. Miley got some cute clothes and her first pair of Nike tennis shoes (I'll have to post a picture). We just hung out and spent the day together while poor Stephen worked. On Sunday, Stephen, Miley, and I just played at home and watched football. At about 5 pm I had enough of football and decided to go to Shoe Station (Momma needs a new pair of shoes). Miley of coarse came with me, Daddy wanted a nap. We get to the store and I'm looking for some new black shoes. I find a couple different pair then go over to the couch/seats to try them on. I put Miley on the floor to walk around the seat and play with the mirror behind us. I turned my back for 3 seconds, turned toward Miley and she's walking/sprinting down the shoe aisle with a high heel in hand. I literally jumped up and had to jog after her. She thought this was hilarious and made several more attempts to escape. I think I might need a leash (note: just kidding I would never put her on a leash). It was really funny, I couldn't believe how fast she was going.

Long time, no blog

Wow, it's been awhile since I've updated the blog. Sorry everybody but I've been in the field the last few weeks and very rarely get on the computer at home. It's been so long and I feel like there is nothing to say. You know when you see someone you haven't spoken to in a long time and they ask "What you been up too?" and the only thing you can muster is a "Nothing, just work". I'm sure I can come up with something. Miley is walking around like a big girl. She can go about 10 steps before she loses balance and plops down. It is so cute to see the balancing act. I think she is going through another growth spurt because she's been eating like a horse and waking up around 3 am. Last night she slept all night, man I love those nights.

Last week, another baby pulled Miley's hair at daycare. She didn't like that one bit but now we know her hair is finally growing. She really loves day care though, you can just tell. She no longer takes naps there so everyday as soon as we walk in the door she's ready to sleep. And where does she want to sleep? On me of coarse, most of the time I don't mind, I like to cuddle. After her nap, she and Stephen wrestle on the floor of awhile then her and I play with her toys. We eat dinner, play some more, then it's off to bed.

Birthday planning is still in progress and I've been thinking about what to do for her 1 year photos. Also been thinking about Halloween costumes. Last year she was only 11 days old so she just wore a onesie. Also in the process of weaning but I don't think that will be an issue. She's doing really well with her cup so all the bottles are packed away. The hardest thing will be that thumb but that's another year away.

She walks!

The below video was taken yesterday with my camera phone. Overnight she has found the strength to let go. In the video Miley is holding an Oreo, you may notice the bag on the couch. Also the screen goes black because she leaned forward so I had to catch her and drop the phone to the floor. Stephen really needs to find some discs so we can video with our good camera.

No more bottles!

For weeks now I've been sending Miley to daycare with 2 cups and a bottle. I sent the bottle because some days she does well with the cup and others not so much. Well today marks the day when she gets no more bottles. She's being doing so well with the cup so good buy plastic baby bottle, hello big girl cup. The next bottle she'll drink from will be a bottle of root beer (of coarse not for a few years). Next step (excuse the pun) is walking. As you can see from the video below, she can really move it with some assistance.

I'll end the suspense about Miley's party. It will be......PIG themed! I've already got some cute stuff so I'm now looking forward to it and less dreading it. The party is set for October 25 since her birthday is a Monday and the weekend before that we'll be in Nebraska. I think Stephen and I will take her actual birthday off and do something fun. Again more for us than for her, I just don't feel right about sending her to daycare on her birthday.

In other news, Miley continues to say her new favorite words: baby, dada, and maaaamaaaaa. Yesterday when I picked her up for daycare, she WAVED bye-bye to Tucker (the boy that kissed her). I was shocked, "She can wave bye?" Ms. Jenni says "Yeah, she just started waving when someone leaves." So she is learning more and more and getting so big. I wonder what other kinds of things she does when we're not around, calculus perhaps? At home she rarely plays on her own, she just wants me to hold her all the time. It can get frustrating but I just think of it like this: she doesn't get held at daycare and she only wants me to hold her therefore she must miss me. And with that reasoning I continue the bad habit of picking her up when she cries at my feet. Must try to break that soon or not ;)

Look-alike Meter

She looks more like me! Well a chubbier, pregnant me. I'll have to get more up-to-date photos so Stephen doesn't think I cheated.

Proof

Sorry about the quality, these were taken last night with my cell phone. The first one is Miley walking with her new toy. She can really move if she's holding on to something. The second is of Miley saying baby. Listen close and turn up the speakers, you can hear it. She got her baby out of the toy basket and kept trying to give her to Daddy. She walked up to him (holding the couch) and said "Dada" then when he handed her back "Baby". She would then give the baby a kiss, so cute we couldn't stand it! Apparently she kept saying baby all day yesterday at daycare. She's brilliant!

10 months old! Our third anniversary

Miley is 10 months old today! I'll post the usual month milestone picture tonight when I get home. I know I say this a lot but I CANNOT believe she's 10 months. We're going to wake up tomorrow and she'll be 16. Today is also Stephen and my anniversary. Three wonderful and very eventful years. So much has happened especially in the last year, we've had a baby, moved, and are now buying our first house. We're like grown ups! Although I think getting married probably gave us that distinction long ago, it just seems like we've all grown so much this year. We've gone from silly kids to being someone else's parents in what seems like overnight. I can't imagine what the next 3 years will bring. We are so blessed to be growing together as a family :)

Health and Vocabulary Update

I forgot to give our illness update yesterday. Miley is 100% better :) so she is, I'm glad to say, 100% healthy. Stephen did finally get sick but only for a day then was back to his normal self. I, on the other hand, am still not feeling that great. I've developed a terrible cough and this morning have muffled hearing in my left ear. I'm going to bite the bullet and go back to the doctor. I'm hanging in there and am thankful Miley and Stephen are better. Stephen was worse than Miley and he knows it!

Over the weekend, Miley has increased her vocabulary. She can say "Ut oh", "Dada", "Baby", "Hi", something that sounds like "Yea", and "MaaaMaaa". It is so cute to hear her little voice. Unfortunately the MaaaMaaa only comes out when she whines or wants to be picked up.

She has also apparently turned into the class bully. Miley and this other baby (Hailey) are picking on the boys. Miley puts them in a head lock and Hailey pulls them off the wall. I've never personally seen this behavior so I'll just assume their defending themselves. I wish I had a picture of those two together because they look so much alike. They have the same hair amount and color, they are about the same size, but Hailey has her ears pierced while Miley does not. Maybe the boys tease them about looking similar or perhaps the girls are just showing them who's boss.

Guess the Birthday Theme

Over to the right is a poll, can you guess the birthday theme? I've starting the party planning process. Not sure why it's such a big deal but it feels really important. Maybe because it's the first birthday, the end of baby days on to toddler-hood. Maybe because as moms we focus on the planning and not really the root, the baby isn't the baby anymore. If I think about it in terms of what her birthday actually is, it makes me sad. I much rather focus on party games and cake!

Walk report: Miley took 2 unassisted steps at daycare last Thursday! She refuses to stand, let alone, walk unassisted at home. I have a very good feeling one day she'll just walk across the room like she's always be able too. It will be a repeat of the crawling, I hope I get it on video too. Also a side note, I still haven't sent the 9 month photos, sorry, I've actually been busy at work, go figure.

Might be feeling better

Well this morning I felt much better but still not 100%. Miley looks and acts much better but still has a runny nose. Hopefully, tomorrow we'll be well. Stephen is still healthy, I really like to know his secret. I picked up Miley's 9 month photos yesterday so I'll be mailing/posting them soon. They are super cute so keep an eye out for them. I've been working on updating Miley's baby book, I haven't opened it in months so we're way behind. Also been thinking about the big birthday coming up, it'll be here before I know it. Sweet Miley the big 1!

We're still on walk watch. She cruises everywhere and every once in awhile she'll stand without holding on. She only does it when she thinks she's holding on to something steady. Yesterday she was holding a blanket thinking it was the couch and stood for a good 10 seconds before plopping down on her butt. She'll be walking in no time!

Sick baby and Mommy Part II

Well, just when I thought we were both better, Miley and I are both sick again/still. This morning we both had runny noses and a cough but she went to daycare and I sitting at work. I bet she sleeps all day because that's what I feel like doing. Stephen has yet to feel sick but Miley and I are going on to our third week. I have no more vacation time so I really hope we both get better soon. I'm so afraid of cold/flu season, I don't want us to be sick for 3 months straight. Come on Miley, let's get well!

First Kiss

I'm a few days behind on posts, so much to talk about. First off, the kiss (as told to me through daycare). Monday afternoon, all the babies expect Miley and Tucker were napping so all the lights were off. Miley and Tucker were playing on the floor when Tucker leaned over and kissed Miley on the lips!!! This happened twice and apparently Miley just looked at him. The teachers turned the lights on and Tucker leaned in for another. Miley then slapped in the face. I guess two kisses are her limit or she only kisses in the dark. Either way I think Stephen and I are in a world of hurt.

Yesterday, Stephen and I took the day off and went to the beach for the Journey concert. My mom picked Miley up from daycare and watched her until we got home at 1 am. Miley did very well from what I'm told, better in fact then if I was home. Everyone can put her in her crib awake but me, she screams bloody murder if I do it. She knows I'm the weakest. Anyway, so yesterday was the longest we've been apart. It wasn't too bad but I knew I'd get to see her smiling face in the morning, more than 24 hours apart still seems way to tough. I still need the Miley and me cuddle time, I know I always will.

First Word!

Miley spoke her first word on Saturday! Back story: I felt so sick Friday morning I couldn't eat or see straight so I decided to go to the dr. I had a nasty sinus infection (thanks for sharing Miley, so sweet) so I was prescribed antibiotics and sudafed (which I later read on the bottle not to take if you're nursing). My mom offered to come over Saturday to help with Miley if I was still feeling bad since Stephen had to work all day. By Saturday morning I felt so much better but Mom decided to come over anyway. We spent the day just visiting and playing with Miley. Mom was showing her a book with a baby on the cover and told her baby and was trying to get her to say Mama, Mimi, or poo all of which she doesn't say. Miley's vocabulary consists of "ah, ma, ba, ra" oh and a very high pitched squeal.

When Stephen got home around 5 we went to dinner and drove by our new house/lot. I don't think I mentioned here that we bought a lot and will have a new house in December. Anyway, when we got home Miley was playing of the floor and crawled over to the book she and Mimi were looking out. She started slapping the cover and said......."BABY!" Stephen and I looked at each over and said "Did you hear that?" Maybe it was a fluke so I picked her and the book up and pointed at the baby and asked "Miley, what is this?" She looked at it very hard with one eye brow cocked then looked at me then looked again and said "BABY!" She repeated it several times and did it over and over on Sunday. I still get goosebumps thinking about her sweet little voice and her funny face like "Mommy that's a baby of coarse". She's brilliant no need for Dada or Mama words lets talk about her the baby :)

Sick Mommy

Well today I feel like death. Everything hurts even my hair. If this is what Miley went through she is a trooper. I couldn't sleep last night, I don't feel like eating, and every muscle is screaming in pain. Unforunately, I'm stuck here at work because I don't want to use my vacation. I have to save it so when Miley is sick again I can stay home. I'm really really dreading winter because Miley and I have been passing cold/flu germs all summer. What's going to happen in the real cold/flu season?

Back to the old Miley

I'm so happy to report that as of this morning, little Miley is feeling so much better. She woke up happy and playful like she does every morning and looking so less pitiful and more beautiful :) Daycare didn't really want to take her but Miley flashed the mean desk lady a huge smile to prove she was somewhat back to normal. Love having a happy baby, having a sick baby is heartbreaking. She even let me put the ear drops in this morning without screaming or wiggling, that's a good sign that things are improving. Hooray for a healthier, happier Miley :)

Edit: It's 4:30 and Miley is still feeling better but now I have a really sore throat and my muscles ache. Watch out Stephen, you're next!

Eye and Ear Drops

We had to give Miley eye drops all last week for what we thought was pink eye (now know that it wasn't). She did okay with it, she always wanted to rub her eyes right after we gave her the drops. The directions say "One drop in eye every 4 hours, keep eye closed for 5 minutes, do not blink". Um...that doesn't work on an infant buddy. Last night Miley finished off the drops and for some reason HATED it! She refused to open her eye, you couldn't even hold them open. Daddy had to sneak in the drop and Mommy aka the bad guy had to hold her arms down. Well, today Miley doesn't want to be touched at all. After I picked up her ear drops for pain, I had to administer them myself. So I swaddled Miley (wrapped her in a blanket) so her arms couldn't get free and then laid her in my lap so I could get the drops in. She instantly began to wiggle, kick, and claw her way out of the blanket within ohhhh 2 seconds all the while screaming bloody murder. I've never heard her reach the octave she reached today. I quickly pin her body as close to mine and drop the 3 drops in her ear. Which by the way are thick as syrup and just don't come shooting out, but it's done. I let her go and rock her so she'll stop making that awful screaming sound only to realize I have to do the other side and it just so happens to be the one that's more infected. So again I have to pin her down and the screaming starts again, by this time I'm crying. I'm get it done quicker the second time but we're both bawling now. Within 5 minutes of the ordeal Miley's out like a light and I promise myself that next time I'll wait for Stephen so it's less traumatic for us both. My poor sweet baby girl, I so hope she feels better soon.

Sick Baby

So I think the last post was about Miley's eye infection. She had a well baby checkup last Tuesday and she was 100% healthy. Wednesday she had a nasty eye infection in her right eye that was clear by Thursday. Saturday her other eye became infected and cleared up by Monday. Monday (yesterday) day care called because she was really fussy and not eating. Stephen picked her up and she seemed fine. This morning from the moment she woke up she just kept screaming and crying so I took her back to the doc. She now has double ear infections that are extremely bad the doc thinks she probably can't hear very well right now. I went straight to the pharmacy and quickly gave her the antibiotics and the ear drops that help with pain. She's been asleep from the moment we got home, 2.5 hours ago. Poor baby, I feel so bad for her. She is looking so pitiful today all I want to do is hold her but she just doesn't want to be touched. She'll cuddle me when she's awake but when she wants to rest she much rather have her crib and blanket. I really hope she feels better soon, it just breaks my heart knowing she's in so much pain.

14 hours later

Miley developed an eye infection 14 hours after her 9 month dr. appointment. I got a call yesterday around lunch that Miley's eye was really red and gooey. I couldn't believe it because the day before and that morning she was fine. So I went to the day care and sure enough, it was swollen almost shut. Miley was in good spirits for only having an eye and half to see with. The dr office called in some eye drops ($80 dollars) so we won't have to come back in and pay a co-pay. If we had to go back in, my best guess would have been the drs office gave it to her in order to get another paid visit. So last night she received 1 drop in her eye and again 1 drop this morning. She already looks 90% better just a little red but at least she can see. Day care took her back this morning and then informed me she had been rubbing her eye all day Tuesday before the dr. appointment. Is it just me or do you think that would be something helpful to share with me when I picked her up on Tuesday?

9 months old!

Miley is 9 months old! I can't believe it, only 3 months until her birthday. She had her 9 month appointment yesterday so here is her new stats:
Weight: 19 lbs 2 oz (65% for her age)-Her feet were hanging off the edge of the scale so I bet she weighs a little bit more than that
Height: 28 inches (75% for her age)
Head: 18 inches (90% for her age)-Has to be bigger in order to hold all her brains :)

She did amazing at the appointment. She flirted with the dr. but did get a little upset when he laid her down. I think she did well considering her new found stranger anxiety. They pricked her big toe to check her blood, she didn't make a sound, didn't even jump. Next came the big bad shot, only one this time. She only yelped for a second and was back to climbing all over the exam table. She totally shredded that paper they put on the tables. She is now cleared to eat anything (expect honey, nuts, cow milk, eggs, and raw fish) and our goal for the next few months is to get off the bottle and onto a cup. We're already started the cup and just in the last week, she's being doing awesome. I really don't think the bottle/cup transition will be a big deal, I'm more concerned about getting her to stop sucking her thumb. Oh and I almost forgot, I wanted to clarify that Miley only got one of her bottom teeth so she's up to 7. The teething nightmare has ended for now until that 8th tooth decides to make an appearance. She slept for 11 hours last night (gotta love it)!

Parents in training

I just checked my e-mail and my mom (aka Miley's Mimi) did not like the post about fits. In the e-mail she made a very good point, Miley is trying to train us. That is exactly it!!! I want to clarify that Miley is a sweet cuddle cakes. She is so lovable and typically a perfect angel but she does have her moments, we all do. She is in fact training us to do what she wants or thinks she needs and I must add she is training us well. No one wants to let a crying baby just keep crying, she is one smart cookie. She definitely has me wrapped around her finger, but I just can't help myself look at her adorable, I spell trouble face! So we continue to be trained by a small packaged, big attitude, sweetie pie.

Luau Week

Wednesday was Luau Day at Miley's daycare. They have a new director and they will have a themed day once a month and two wet and wild days during the summer months. Anyway, I really wanted Miley to wear her orange and pink outfit (seen below in the 8 month photo) but I couldn't find her orange shorts. So I decide she could wear her blue Hawaiian outfit but I couldn't find the "Aloha" shirt that went with it. So Miley had to wear blue flower capris and her pink "My Daddy's the Big Kahuna" shirt. She of coarse looked the cutest or maybe I'm biased. I couldn't believe some people but flower leis on the babies, Miley would have eaten hers'. Tonight is luau night at the apartments so I think Miley may have to once again rock the blue and pink outfit that in no way matches.

Terrible Twos at 9 months?

I would love to say that Miley is the perfect baby, that she's never fussy, and a perfect angel in public, but that's just not the truth. She has a temper and she knows what she wants when she wants it. She only gives Mommy and Daddy x amount of time to figure it out before she loses it. We're used to this and we love her just the same, it would be nice if we could go out to eat without a melt down but whatever. Neither one of us are looking forward to the terrible twos. Last night Miley had a FIT! She was playing on the floor quietly while Stephen and I ate dinner. She was all the way over on the other side of the room and started whining/crying because she wanted to be picked up. The girl just sat there screaming and having a fit refusing to crawl over to us, no she wanted us to come to her. After about 5 minutes of the fit, she finally crawled over to us, still screaming and looking all pitiful. I picked her up and she instantly stopped crying. Things like this happen every night, she wants you to do something and won't stopped screaming until you do it. Two nights ago I put her in her playpen so I could finish cleaning the kitchen and she had a fit. When I finished I pulled her out and tried to hand her to Stephen. She instantly turned away from him and shot me a dirty look. I'm the one who put her in the playpen but she was angry with him. We've got a wild one on our hands!

Two more teeth

Miley is getting the two bottom teeth next to the very front ones. These will bring the count to 8! Right now you can just see the right one breaking the surface. All weekend she was drooling like crazy, she's never done that before and last time she got 4 at once. Yesterday and today her nose is really runny but other than that she doesn't seem sick. Sleeping has been going well up until Saturday night. She did get back in the groove last night only crying for a few minutes at 11:30, 2:15, and 5 but each time she put herself back to sleep.

In other news, she has learned a few new tricks. Last week probably Thursday, she's started wrinkling her nose and inhaling like she smells something. It's a sniffing action, I have no idea why she does it but she doesn't do it very often. I think I mentioned in the last post that she can clap her hands together but she is perfecting the art of patty-cake (which fyi is basically the only thing that instantly calms her down). Lately she's been giving me "hugs" a lot. I'll pick her up and she'll put her head on my shoulder with her arms extended out across my chest. It is sooooo sweet, I LOVE baby hugs!

Officially a Mom today

Well, I embarrassed Miley today. How do you embarrass an infant? I'll tell you. Yesterday, the day care told me that a photographer was coming to do the summer pictures and it's a beach theme. They went on and on about putting her in a bathing suit for the pictures. "Okay, what time is her pictures so I know if I should dress her in the suit or just bring it extra?" "Oh, the Birds and Turtles are first so we'll get her photos first thing".

So based on that inform I dressed Miley like the photo above and took her to school. When we get there, no one else is dressed in a bathing suit! I think to myself, is today Thursday? When we get to her class, 4 women are in there and they go nuts over Miley. "Oh my word, she's so cute, look at her hat, etc..." As they start to move toward us, Miley turns all red and begins climbing up me. She tries to bury her face so far into my neck, I swear she was going to come out the other side. So yeah, I embarrassed her by dressing in a bathing suit for school. By the way, her photo wasn't until 9:30 so she was tortured a little longer than expected. At least her friends aren't old enough to tease her ;) Stephen's making flank steak tonight so she'll forgive me.

4th of July Weekend

We are back from our 3 day weekend at the beach. We stayed in a condo right on the beach with my parents, brother, his girlfriend, and Uncle Glen. It was a great time. Miley went swimming for the first time and loved it, played patty cake by herself, enjoyed the sand in her toes, watched the fireworks from the balcony, oh and played with the baby in the mirror. Poor Daddy got sun burnt the first day and hid from the sun the remainder of the time. Miley didn't go out too often, we stayed in the indoor pool. I'm happy to report Miley is on a 2 day "back to sleeping great" streak, just for Daddy's birthday. Yesterday was his actually day but we're going to celebrate tonight! Happy Birthday old man!

Cruiser and a Dancer

Well Miley has mastered the art of cruising. She pulls herself up with anything she can and side steps as far as she can go. She was all over the place this weekend. I can't believe we're already on the walk watch, didn't she just start crawling? She can't stand on her own but she's getting braver using one hand or just her face or chest to balance. She also crawls like a speed demon following Mommy everywhere. You can hear her coming because she smacks her hands down really loud and usually squeals with delight because she's chasing you.

Daycare told me yesterday that she's got major rhythm. Apparently she was bouncing up and down and waving her arms in the air like she just don't care to a baby CD. I guess she's a dancer loves the music scene :)

Daughter like Father

Miley reminds me so much of her Daddy. This morning at day care her teachers were telling me that Miley is a fighter. First of all she pulls every one's hair. This is nothing new and I couldn't tell you why she enjoys hair so much, she even pulls her own. Stephen does not share this fascination with hair but he would be bully if I had to chose one of us. She also holds her own with the older kids in her class the 1 year olds. One little boy loves walking over the younger babies like speed bumps when their crawling on the floor. When Miley sees him coming she pulls herself up with the wall and stares him down. She will not be walked on (literally). I can only hope she won't be walked on figuratively either just like her Daddy. I'm glad to hear she doesn't lay down and take it, a good trait that she shares with Stephen.

They used to share their need for independence; however, lately Miley has been a bit clingy. She has his eyes, ears, feet (big) and hair line. Everyone says she looks exactly like Stephen. She doesn't have his nose or eyebrows. I'm not sure where the talent of the one eyebrow lift comes from but she's an expert. The three of us share a love of sleeping and eating. One can only hope that when she's older, she will be well behaved like me ;)

Morning Shift

And just like that the 72 hour pump test is postponed maybe cancelled. I did however go up to the site to be safety trained. Stephen took the morning shift, waking Miley up and taking her to daycare. I don't know the full story but Stephen said Miley just had a blank stare the entire time he was getting her ready. He's always at work when Miley wakes up for the day. Apparently, she was very confused and was looking for Mommy. Good to know I'm needed, told Stephen to just be thankful she wasn't screaming. I can't wait to get my extra big smile today when I pick her up.

1.5 hours out of 72

That's how much time I will get with Miley starting tomorrow. I'm sad and upset. I really hope she does okay. I'm sure she'll be fine but 1.5 hours in three days is so little. I hope she takes a bottle and isn't too much trouble for Stephen. I'm praying for the best but preparing for the worse. This is the first time we'll be apart for so long and I know no matter what the situation I'd be sad. Stephen will take good care of her, I just hope she takes good care of him. I'll be thinking and missing them when I'm sitting out in the 95 degree weather with a hard hat and steel toes. Hope the generator doesn't die because I have no clue how to fix it. Wish me luck, no updates until Friday.

8 months old!

Today Miley is 8 months old! I'll post a picture later when I get home. Not much new to report, the top 4 teeth are out and pearly white. She's been having issues drinking her bottle at daycare so we're working on a sippy cup. Hopefully that will go well and she'll transition nicely.

Father's Day

Yesterday was Stephen's first Father's Day :) It went well, we spent the weekend at my parents house. Yesterday Stephen and my Dad ate BBQ and watched the NASCAR race. Stephen got 2 guns (he bought 2 guns a while ago but we're calling it Father's Day), a photo key chain, a new shirt, and the daycare made a tie and a very cute poem with Miley's footprints on it. I would take it for myself but the poem is about a child following her in Daddy's footsteps.

Miley is doing much better than last week. She is the proud owner of 4 new teeth. The top 4 finally broke through the surface so she's back to eating and sleeping like normal. She spent the weekend crawling all other the place. Crawling after Bo (my dog that lives with my parents) and pulling herself up. She hit her head on a chair so she got her first knot of knowledge. I felt really bad but at least there wasn't blood. I know this is just the first of many bumps and bruises but the mother in me wants to protect her from harm.

Hair Twirling and Teeth Grinding

That is two of Miley's newest tricks. Last week I mentioned she was pulling her hair when she sucks her thumb. Well for the last few days she twirls it with her fingers. My mom informs me that was something I would do all the time and Stephen's said Hannah (his littlest sister) also did that when she was younger. It is very cute! Not so cute, is the teeth grinding. Miley's upper teeth are cutting through so fast! Three days ago she started grinding the upper and lower teeth making what sounds like a whale clicking. She doesn't do it in her sleep, just when she's awake and not chewing something. My birthday night she slept for 9 hours straight, it was so wonderful for both of us to get the rest. Last night, not so good. She woke up at 11:30 and then was like up for the day at 3 climbing all over the bed and over Stephen. She finally went back to sleep around 4:30 but was very cranky this morning while getting ready for daycare. The poor baby is just having so much trouble cutting these top teeth.

Long story but we went to the ped's office yesterday because daycare wouldn't take her. She's been fussy there and apparently that's not like her. They wanted me to watch her for 24 hours since she's not been taking a bottle very well the last few days (I don't have any trouble getting her to eat). Anyway the Dr. said her ear infection is gone and she's teething so she's uncomfortable. All four top teeth are coming in right now, OUCH!! So I missed a day of work and paid a co-pay for the Dr. to tell me she's teething, duh. Oh well, at least we know her ear infection is better. She weighed 18 lbs 1 oz (1 oz in a week) and is now 27 inches. The daycare took her today so I just went to check on her at my lunch break. She's doing much better with her bottle, she's a little fussy. I guess she just wanted to play hooky for the day. Man, they learn so fast ;)
