Saturday we had Miley's birthday party. It was a lot of fun and I think she actually enjoyed herself. We opened presents throughout the day so she would have different things to play with. Some of the first things she opened was an inflatable ball pit, a Pooh 4 in 1 car, a Spin Around Learning Town and some very cute outfits. She had a short cat nap and then opened the rest. Let's see if I can list them (I apologize in advance if I leave something out)...a Pooh V-Tech telephone, Miley sized hair berets, M&M blanket, several books, a wooden puzzle, a Cabbage Patch Doll (exactly like the one I had when I was little), a Pig rolly backpack, a year's subscription to a baby animals magazine, a paid college tuition with the state of Mississippi, some fun money, a set of coins with her birth year on them, Pig decorations, and that's all I can remember at the moment. She also got lots of birthday gifts in Nebraska, lets see if I can name those...a singing baby doll, lots of super cute outfits for Halloween, Christmas, hockey games, and whatever time, a PDA for babies, a remote control, and that's all I can think of. Thank you notes are coming soon, we're waiting for her 1 year photos to come in. Anyway, I would say that her 1st birthday was a success and with all the things going on I had no time to be sad. Can't wait to move into the new house and set her room up. Oh she also got a cute sign with her name on it to hang in her new room (we should be moving in around the middle of December).
Yesterday, Miley had her 1 year check-up so you know what that means....another weight poll!!! Make your guesses to the right, no help this time but you could look back at her previous weight about a month ago ;). She did very well and passed all the milestone questions...does she walk, does she throw things, does she say Dada, mama, and a few others, does she feed herself, does she drink from a cup.... I said yes even though she won't say Mama, I know she can but she rather mess with me. She also received 4 shots, 2 in each leg. She screamed until I picked her up and gave her a hug. She needs 2 more shots at 15 months then the baby shots are all done. Oh, she got 1 flu shot yesterday so we have to go back next month for the second.
Everything is going well and Miley is growing great. She's been a little fussy later so I believe she is getting sick again. The doctor wrote us a prescription for antibiotics in case she gets an ear infection. Stephen came home yesterday from work sick so it's only a matter of time before we're all three feeling bad. I hope we can make it through Halloween. I just made the weight poll and it seems too easy so let's do a height poll as well!

Back from our first trip
This last weekend Miley took her first airplane trip and she did wonderful. She got a little fussy when she couldn't get comfy to sleep but that was it. We had a great time in Nebraska, she was her cute self and got lots of birthday gifts. She was pretty friendly to everyone and loved Grandpa and Grandma's dog, Benny. She also liked the twin babies who by the way were so cute and cuddly. I held the babies a little bit and she didn't seem jealous, she just didn't want her Mimi holding another baby. I loved spending the time with her and seeing all her new tricks. She is such a big girl now, you don't see baby anymore when you look at her.
Last night Stephen and I were cleaning the living room, packing the non-essentials and throwing away the clutter. Miley has a big toy basket in the living room in the corner and while Stephen and I were throwing things out she was purging her toy basket. She'd pull things out of it, look at it for a moment, then toss it behind her. Also last night she decided to entertain us with some very silly behavior. She sat down in the middle of the room, lifted her foot to her ear, and started talking to it like a telephone. It was hilarious, she is such a goofy girl. LOVE IT!!

ONE!
Yesterday Miley turned ONE! She is officially a toddler no longer a baby. We spent the day together which I LOVED, I wish we could spend everyday together. First we slept in after the ordeal of the trip, I'll post about that later. Then we went to the YMCA to swing, had lunch with Mimi, and went to Toy's R Us for some big girl toys, a balloon, and a birthday crown. Then when Daddy got home, we went to Chuck E. Cheese. All of this activity and she still took 3 naps.
The big birthday party is on Saturday, her 1 year photos are this afternoon, and her 1 year check-up is Thursday. Can't believe it's been a whole year, she is such a big girl. I remember the day she was born like yesterday. The Friday before (the 19th) I was running around getting all my short-term disability paperwork signed because my midwife wanted me to take the last week off to relax. When I got home, Stephen and I went to the mall to get a CD and have our rings cleaned. Around 7 pm while eating Tator-Tot Casserole, the contractions started. Every 15 minutes at first then 10 then 5 and they were all in my back. At midnight they were about 3 minutes apart so Stephen and I went to the hospital. They checked me out but I was only 2 cm so they sent me home with muscle relaxers and a pain killer saying it could be a few days. A FEW DAYS!!! There was no way I could have dealt with that for a few days. Anyway, got home around 2:30 and went to bed still having the contractions. Stephen went to work at 5 but didn't stay long. At 6:30 my water broke so Stephen rushed home and we went back to the hospital. I was now a 3 but they had to keep me since my water broke. At 10:30, my Mom, Dad, brother, his girlfriend, Grandma, and Grandpa arrived and I got my epidural. So magically, I no longer felt pain and slept. At 3:50, I started pushing FOREVER! Then finally after 21 hours of labor, Miley was born at 4:56 pm on Saturday October 20th (the Sweetest Day). She was so tiny and warm and had hair, we couldn't believe it. Here's a photo of Miley minutes after she was born:
She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and was 20.5 inches long. She was/is perfect. Happy Birthday baby girl!

First Plane Ride
Well we're going to Nebraska tomorrow so Miley will get her first plane ride. I've been running around trying to pack and already the baby gear is taking over. It's just for 4 days but you'd think we were moving up there. I'm nervous but trying to stay positive about how the trip will go. I'm sure she'll do better than me, I don't like flying all the much. We'll be back on Sunday with the complete story. Oh and Miley's birthday post!

8 days to go
Man, I'm really slacking on blogging lately. I figured I'd post now while Miley and Stephen are still asleep. Only 8 days until the big day, however after the events that took place yesterday at a birthday party I think Miley is actually 4 trapped inside of a 1 year old (more on that later). This week in daycare news: Miley's eyes started draining again around Tuesday. It looks much worse than it actually is but still you feel bad for her. After a few calls to the doctor's office, they decided it may be allergies and to give her Children's Benadryl. By Thursday her eyes were back to normal so I guess Miley has allergies just not sure what they are. The last time this happened was about 2 months ago then a week later she had double ear infections. For some reason, Miley doesn't get runny noses, she gets runny eyes. Friday at daycare she was bitten again. We know who the culprit is because this individual bites someone every day. I don't know what you're suppose to do about it, we just hope Miley doesn't pick up this habit.
Yesterday Miley and I went to a birthday party for a coworker's daughter, Ava. She is turning 4 on Monday and they had a party at Pump It Up. It's a large room with an inflatable playground. There is an obstacle coarse, GIANT slide, a boxing ring, and a ball bounce house. Miley had a BLAST!!!!! I could barely keep up with her, she was walking/running around chasing the bigger kids and chasing the balls all over. She would laugh and laugh in the bounce houses and LOVED the slide. I was afraid she'd get run over so I stayed real close but she just wanted to play so she'd just get right in the action. She was so friendly with the other kids and so super sweet. There were 3 other toddlers/babies her age but they just didn't enjoy it like Miley did. One little girls was a month younger than Miley but at least 3 times her size. Miley would walk up to her and try to play ball but the girl was really shy, her mom said that she hasn't been around kids her age. Another little boy about 3 months older liked playing with Miley. She sat in one of those Flinestone cars and he'd push her around. There were about 15 kids running amok (things to look forward too) but Miley wasn't the least bit afraid, she ran around playing with anyone who would show her attention. She didn't care if I was around or not. It was a lot of fun and we're so proud to know we have such a sweet, friendly baby/toddler.

Invitation in the mail
I'm mailing Miley's birthday party invitation today! I only had a few so I only mailed them to the Grandparents and the Great Grandparents. I promise to post a photo of one once I know everyone has received theirs. The only thing left to do is buy her gifts! I'm so excited to see her open her presents and play with the paper and boxes and not the actually toys. We PROMISE to take lots and lots of photos and video. It's times like these that I wish we lived closer to more family and friends but I know everyone will be thinking of her and we'll be thinking of you!
Have to get back to work but tomorrow I'll make a better blog post!

19 days and counting...
Only 19 more short days until our baby girl is officially a toddler! Where did the time go? The short baby stage passed in a flash of colic, sleepless nights, constant cuddling, new baby smell, poopy diapers and several super cute milestones all of which made us so proud. Examples: Did you see that I think she smiled, Daycare said she can hold her bottle now, Liss-come quick I can make her laugh, just to name a few. We're going to enjoy the next few weeks of babyhood because at 1 she'll be on cow's milk, actually human food (not mush), and improving her walking/running skills. Things to look forward to for the next year....talking, sassing, running a mock, cuddling (one can hope), and the new house!
